Bullying
It is such a shame that people would feel the desire to bully someone who has a brain disorder. One would think that they would feel lucky that they had the brain they have instead of insulting someone who has less. This is the case for Chy Johnson. Chy Johnson and Carson Jones both attended the same high school in Queens Creek, Arizona. Chy was being bullied by girls at her school. Her mother called Carson Jones, who is a family friend, to find out who exactly was bullying her student. Carson Jones and his football friends decided to defend Chy. They ate lunch with her every day and tried to have someone at her side at all times of the day so she would not be bullied.
After reading this, I was absolutely blown away. It shocked me that football players would try to help out someone being bullied. It makes me sad to think that that fact shocks me, but it does. I am just absolutely amazed that the football players went to such great lengths to help this girl out. I think that they are incredibly brave and kind for doing so. Chy is incredibly brave as well for putting up with what was happening with her. She said someone threw trash at her, which is completely untolerable. She put up with being put down and did not allow it to get to her like many students do. She appears to be incredibly strong.
I believe that if more ''popular'' people start standing up for those being bullied, bullying will slowly diminish. If people see the people who they admire stopping bullying, they are more likely to do it themselves. I also believe that people should be better educated on how to deal with people who have mental disorders. Many times people look at them as freaks, which is an horrendous way to view them. Other times people do not know how to deal with them so they make fun of them because they see a way how to. Schools can also try to teach respect; they can try to show the students that everyone deserves to be treated well. I know that sometimes it does not always work, but it definitely could be tried. They could also have workshops on how to deal with certain situations, like being bullied, and who they should notify about what happened. Although I know that the school cannot play a huge role in reducing bullying, they can do their part.
